Andrea Lasso de la Vega Moreno graduated from the B.A. in English and the master’s degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language at the Universidad de Costa Rica. She is a certified Oral Proficiency Evaluator from the American Council of Teaching of Foreign Languages and is an academic consultant for Oxford University Press.
Currently, she works as a professor at the Faculty of Modern Languages at the Universidad de Costa Rica, specifically in the English for Specific Purposes program, where she is in charge of participating in professional development sessions, structuring assessment, and developing materials for specific populations inside the university. Additionally, Andrea has worked as a tutor at the English Language Department at Universidad Estatal a Distancia, where she developed teaching products that incorporate gamification and technology into the learning process. She has extensive experience as a primary English teacher and English Department coordinator.
Throughout her career, Andrea has conducted a wide variety of workshops on topics such as teacher well-being, analysis of new teaching trends, technology integration in the classroom, platform use, and evaluation and rubrics, among others. She has published articles in the Magazine of Modern Languages at Universidad de Costa Rica and international conferences, and she is actively working on materials for future publication. Her interests revolve around mystery and suspense literature, acquisition of a second language, self and peer assessment, and the use of tools and technology to enhance the learning process.
