Hector Alvarado is an educator and trainer with nearly 25 years of experience at IGA, where he currently serves as Academic Director. He also works with World Learning – SIT as Adjunct Faculty, Licensed Trainer, and Trainer of Trainers for the SIT TESOL Certificate Program. His journey in education has taken him across the USA, Mexico, Central America, Brazil, South Korea, and beyond—always with a passion for language learning and cultural connection.
Originally trained in Mechanical Engineering, Hector later pursued degrees in English Language Teaching, Business Administration and an MBA, blending analytical thinking with a people-centered approach to leadership and learning. He also holds a TESOL Certification, a specialization in Teaching English to Young Learners, and a credential from Harvard Business Publishing in Leading Teams in the 21st Century.
Hector has presented at conferences throughout the Americas—from Argentina to the U.S.—sharing insights on language acquisition and teacher development.
Outside the classroom, you’ll likely find him on two wheels—exploring roads and horizons on his bicycle or motorcycle. He believes education, especially language learning, opens doors to opportunity and understanding. His mission is to inspire and support both educators and learners in discovering their potential and building a better world through communication and connection.
