Modern Pedagogy: Enhancing Engagement, Inclusion, and Learning Outcomes

This workshop explores the principles and practices of modern pedagogy and how they can be applied to improve teaching and learning in contemporary classrooms. As education systems evolve, teachers are increasingly required to adopt flexible, responsive, and learner-centred approaches that support diverse student needs and promote meaningful engagement. Modern pedagogy emphasises active learning, reflective practice, and the purposeful use of teaching strategies that enhance both participation and academic achievement.

Participants will begin by identifying common classroom challenges and student learning barriers through an interactive quiz and Think-Pair-Share activity. These discussions will help establish a shared understanding of how modern pedagogical approaches respond to real classroom experiences and support more effective teaching practices.

The workshop then explores how modern pedagogy provides a framework for inclusive and adaptive teaching. This includes strategies for addressing diverse learner needs, improving classroom engagement, and designing learning experiences that encourage student participation and critical thinking. Attention is given to how teachers can adapt their practice to different learning contexts while maintaining high expectations for all learners.

Through collaborative discussion and scenario-based learning, participants will analyse realistic classroom situations and develop practical, learner-centred solutions. These activities encourage reflection, professional dialogue, and evidence-informed decision-making.

By the end of the workshop, participants will have a deeper understanding of modern pedagogy and practical strategies to create inclusive, engaging, and responsive learning environments that support student success.
